
Mark L. Chapman received his B.A. from Morehouse College, and the
M. Div. and Ph.D. degrees from Union Theological Seminary in New York.
Dr. Chapman is Associate Professor in the Department of African and
African-American Studies at Fordham University. For the last 13 years
he has also served as adjunct professor
of theology and ethics in the Masters program run by New York Theological
Seminary at Sing Sing Prison in Ossining, NY. He also serves on the
executive board of the Prison Action Network.
An ordained minister, Rev. Chapman served as Associate Pastor of the
Grace Congregational Church of Harlem from 1987 to 1991; Assistant
Minister at the Mariner’s Temple Baptist Church from 1993 to
1994; Interim Pastor of the Hollis Presbyterian Church from 2001 to
2002. He was called to serve as Pastor of the Hollis Presbyterian Church
and was installed on November 23, 2008.

Rev. Chapman is the author of numerous articles on black theology
and one book, Christianity on Trial: African-American Religious Thought
Before and After Black Power.
He lives in Hollis, Queens with his wife Teri and daughter Quincey.
