Prayer of Confession

As we come together to worship you O Lord, we must admit that we have fallen far short of how you would have us live.  When you have asked us to help those in need we have looked away, because either we were too busy or we thought that they were not worthy of our care.  Wars are raging worldwide, O God and we ignore the calls of the victims of violence for peace and justice.  In our homes and in our neighborhoods we allow conflicts to continue because we are afraid to confront those who sow discord.  We know that it is only by the Grace given to us through the life and death of Jesus Christ that we can dare to ask for and receive forgiveness.  Free us from self-imposed guilt that prevents us from living the full life that you have promised.  We ask this in the name of the one sent to save us from our sins; in Jesus name we pray.  Amen

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, and the new has come?
